Albert Lin is a rising sophomore at New York University majoring in Civil and Urban Engineering. Through the SUBP Program, he hopes to understand and learn about China’s growth through its technological advancements, particularly in the renewable sector. Other than his talent of being able to bridge from a standing position, he is part of NYU’s Steel Bridge Team as a fabricator, designer, and builder. His interests and hobbies include playing ping pong, badminton, cooking, and trying out different events!
Andy Liu

Andy is interested in learning more about Chinese culture and industry while identifying opportunities for cooperation between the two countries. Outside of school, Andy is an avid musician and plays both piano and cello. He also enjoys tennis and hiking in his free time.
Anthony Xu

Anthony Xu is a graduating senior at Harvard College majoring in Human Developmental and Regenerative Biology. He was drawn to the Sino-US Bridge Program’s mission of promoting engagement and discourse between students and scholars from academic and professional institutions in the United States and China. Outside of SUBP, Anthony is passionate about pursuing a career in science and service through Medicine and he spends his time in the research labs of Boston and Cambridge. Outside of class, Anthony is interested in soccer, chess, dance, and longboarding through Boston.
Audrey Zhang

Audrey Zhang is an incoming freshman at the University of Chicago majoring in Neuroscience & Business Economics. She is interested in learning about how the dynamic economic landscapes in the United States and China intersect. She also looks forward to gaining insight into the workings of the world market as well as the global impact of Chinese business practices. Audrey enjoys hikes, playing New York Times games, cooking, and swimming in her free time.
Cindy Lin

Cindy Lin is an incoming freshman at the University of California, Berkeley majoring in Economics. As an Economics major, she sees SUBP as a chance to immerse herself in China’s academic and technological advancements, applying economic principles to real-world scenarios while fostering cross-cultural exchange. Through this program, she aims to broaden her horizons and contribute to fostering understanding and collaboration between the US and China and possibly do international business. Some activities she enjoys are long-distance running in her high school track team and playing clarinet in the marching band. Outside of school, she finds solace in nature through hiking and enjoys hobbies like crocheting!
Don Mo

Don Mo is a rising sophomore at the University of Washington majoring in Business Information Systems. Through the SUBP, he hopes to further understand his roots, enhance his Chinese language skills, and enjoy delicious food! Don is passionate about software management and development and is a leader in a club called Husky Coding Project on campus where he works with fellow students to build software. Outside of school, he enjoys playing piano, teaching swimming, and competing in traditional kung fu competitions!
Edward Wu

Edward Wu is a graduating senior at the University of Pennsylvania majoring in Marketing & Operations Management and Business Analytics. He is greatly interested in the consumer space, Edward aims to utilize the Sino-US Bridge Program to learn how companies in China are innovating for the future and catering to consumers’ ever-changing demands. Having studied Chinese for 3 out of his 4 years at Penn, he seeks to be an avid part of the Chinese business environment. In his free time, Edward can be found cooking, playing with his Siberian Husky, and trying out new restaurants.
Elizabeth Tian

Elizabeth Tian is an incoming freshman at the Georgia Institute of Technology majoring in Industrial Design and Business. She is interested in the Sino-US Bridge Program Program because it allows her to gain firsthand insights into the latest advancements and approaches utilized in various fields of the design process through company visits. Additionally, she believes this opportunity will expand her global network and enhance her ability to create products that are universally attractive and practical. In her free time, Elizabeth enjoys playing volleyball and works on projects in the art studio.
Emma Chan

Emma Chan is a rising sophomore at the University of California Los Angeles majoring in Global Studies and Chinese. She is interested in the Sino-US Bridge Program because she wants to learn more about the academic and technological world in China. She was also drawn to the program because of the opportunity to learn more about Chinese culture and how that affects business and academic practices. Emma has been learning Chinese for the last 4 years and last summer she went to Taiwan to study at Tamkang University through the NSLI-Y merit scholarship with the U.S. State Department. In her free time, she enjoys playing water polo, reading, snowboarding, traveling, and learning new languages.

Emma Kirkwood is a rising junior at the University of Virginia majoring in Chinese and Foreign Affairs. She grew up in Beijing China and went to boarding school in England! Thus, the SUBP is an incredible opportunity for Emma to go back to China while finding networking opportunities and immersing in Chinese culture. Emma is very involved at the University of Virginia and explores her interests through many extracurriculars including Best Buddies, Blueprint Leadership Group, and Operation Smile. In her free time, she enjoys singing, hiking, and doing the Wordle!

Henry Cahoon is a rising sophomore at the University of Saint Thomas majoring in Civil Engineering. He is interested in connecting with Chinese culture and businesses, particularly engineering and sustainability-related businesses. Through the Sino-US Bridge Program, he wants to become proficient in fostering cross-cultural connections from diverse perspectives. In Henry’s free time, he enjoys playing various tabletop games including chess and D&D. He also likes to play the cello, and occasionally compose music.
Jane Smith

Jane Smith is a rising junior at Chandler-Gilbert Community College majoring in Psychology and Child Development. The SUBP program allows her to look into public outreach and connection to the community in the US as well as in China. She is also interested in expanding her knowledge of the possibilities of connecting to various people through different means, i.e. social media, and seeing the impact she can have on the program. Outside of school, she works at a bookstore and enjoys nature walks, picnics on the marina, and book clubs. Recently, she even started collecting glass boots!

Jerry Liu is a rising senior at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign majoring in Computer Science. His interest in China has led him to join SUBP, which allows him to further explore the Chinese industry, something he finds extremely interesting. Jerry lived in China for 5 years and even went to school there, fueling his interest in the country. In his free time, he enjoys basketball, working out, traveling, and playing the flute!

He became interested in the Sino-US Bridge Program because of his curiosity to learn about Chinese culture and his passion for learning about other cultures and languages. Furthermore, he wants to learn more about how the business operates overseas specifically in Asia. Professionally, Joseph is interning and will soon work full-time at Putnam Investments. Outside of work, he loves to swim, work out, and play video games.

Joyce Lin is a rising junior at the University of Pennsylvania majoring in Operations, Informations, and Decisions and minoring in Data Science. She sees the SUBP program as a unique opportunity for her to explore China’s significant impact on the global stage, fueled by my deep-seated affection for Beijing and fascination with the country’s rapid modernization. Joyce has aspirations in consulting and business development and recognizes the importance of understanding China’s business landscape and cultural context. In college, she explores her interests in social impact through Wharton’s Social Impact Consulting Club, where she serves as a project leader and Internal Vice President. For fun, she loves to paint landscapes, cook Chinese food, and thrift furniture for her own interior design projects!
Liam Rinehart

Liam Rinehart is a graduating senior at the University of Southern California majoring in International Relations and the Global Economy. He is excited to learn more about the financial industry in China and how it impacts developing economies. Liam is also excited to try new foods in China. At USC, he was an active member of 180 Degrees Consulting, a student-run consultancy that provides services to nonprofits, and social enterprises. Liam also served as a Programs Associate at the USC Center for the Political Future working to support office operations, events, and the Internship and Fellows programs. Outside of school, Liam loves to play soccer and hike.
Melina Tsai

Melina Tsai is a graduating senior at The Cooper Union majoring in General Engineering and minoring in Computer Science. She is passionate about sustainability, so she is interested in learning more about the EV and renewable energy market in China. The U.S. and China are the top CO2 producers, so Melina believes it will take collaboration between both countries to get to net zero. In the future, she wants to help foster such collaboration. In her spare time, Melina enjoys playing board games, ballroom dancing, and rowing.

Norah Li is a rising sophomore at Georgia Institute of Technology majoring in Computational Media. By joining SUBP she can learn about working internationally, especially focusing on the advanced technological developments and marketing in countries such as China. She enjoys digital art and crafting and has a soft spot for cats. She is also an avid language learner, speaking fluent Mandarin Chinese and learning Japanese, Korean, and French!
Nathan Xu

Nathan Xu is an incoming freshman at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign majoring in Electrical Engineering. He became interested in the SUBP Program primarily because of the opportunity to gain insight into how Chinese companies can demonstrate incredibly explosive growth. He does competitive robotics as his team’s co-captain and oversees the team’s partnership with the non-profit organization Friends of Children with Special Needs among other outreach programs. In his free time, he does computer programming, recently becoming interested in game development. Other interests include basketball and skateboarding, but he hopes to be able to learn cardistry and card magic!
Sophie Zhang

Sophie Zhang is a rising junior at the University of Chicago double majoring in Economics & Law, Letters, and Society. She is interested in the Sino-US Bridge Program because of her desire to learn more about Chinese culture, language, and society. Sophie’s passion for learning and desire to be challenged have encouraged her to explore a variety of internships and extracurriculars ranging from public policy to consulting. Outside of school, Sophie raises a flock of chickens back home in Southern California and enjoys photography, origami, karaoke, and outdoor adventures!

Torin is fascinated by China’s innovations across fields such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and renewable energy because of China’s role in reshaping industries worldwide. Outside of SUBP, he enjoys spending time with friends and outdoor activities including soccer.

Zadie is a rising junior at the University of Texas at Austin majoring in Biology. She is interested in the medical field and hopes to practice integrated medicine or herbology in the future. She is also very excited to learn more about the medical industry in China and how it compares to the system in the US. Zadie is very passionate about art, specifically oil painting, and Shui-mo.

Jacky Chen is a rising junior at Boston University majoring in Computer Engineering. He is interested in the Sino-US Bridge Program because he wants to look into China’s elite academic institutions and advanced tech companies to learn from them and possibly find opportunities in America from the companies. Outside of SUBP, Jacky enjoys all things computer-related including doing coding. In addition, he is also a big pop and rap music fan and enjoys doing some gaming in his free time.

Jiaying has many hobbies that she enjoys doing in her free time including traveling, dancing, singing, and watching movies!
